Debt swells but debt relief architecture is outdated, World Bank report

In the aftermath of the COVID pandemic developing economies have seen the largest debt related outflow in more than half a century, according to a new World Bank report. The architecture for restructuring and writing off debt is outdated, designed for time when creditors were mainly multilateral banks or public entities, says the bank. Today, most loans are provided by private investors.
