About the journal
Founded in December 1991 by a group of Nordic journalists, Development Today is based on the simple conviction that the only true guarantee of editorial independence is full financial independence from players in the aid field. This is the basic rule for reporting on politics and business affairs; journalism in the field of development assistance deserves no special treatment.
As such, Development Today has from the beginning, and maintains to this day, a policy of not accepting funding from donors, NGOs or other aid actors. As far as we know, Development Today remains the only specialised aid publication with this clear editorial line. The journal is financed primarily through subscriptions.
This policy has helped to maintain the high standard of journalism and established Development Today as an unparallelled, authoritative source of information and analysis for decision makers in the aid field.
Originally created as a paper journal, Development Today launched its first web site in 2001 with all articles published on both platforms. Since October 2017, DT has been a fully online journal with weekly updates for subscribers. The new web site, launched in February 2020, aims to provide our readers with a clean, user-friendly platform, accessible from computer, ipad or phone.

As always, we welcome your comments and feedback.
