Denmark’s early pledge shakes up IDA funding race ahead of finale this week

News December 04, 2024 / By: Bjørn H Amland

Donors gather this week in Seoul for the World Bank’s fund-raising finale, the 21st replenishment round of the International Development Association which pools resources for the world’s poorest countries. Breaking with the years-long tradition of secret pledging, Denmark announced a large early pledge this fall, triggering eight other donors to follow suit. Development Today is told that the event is going forward despite the political crisis in South Korea.
