NRC suspends US-funded relief operations and lays off staff, despite waivers

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) announces that it must, for the first time, halt urgent humanitarian work for hundreds of thousands of people in almost 20 countries and lay off aid workers in response to the US government decision to suspend aid. NRC says it will be unable to take advantage of recent waivers unless the United States resumes payments to partners for work completed.
