Cash-strapped UN agencies receive lion’s share of humanitarian pooled funds while localisation backslides

Following the United States’ contribution of USD 2 billion to the UN humanitarian country pooled funds this year, the share of resources channelled through UN agencies went through the roof, while direct funding to local and national NGOs plummeted. Humanitarian actors in the Global South are stunned by the backsliding. The UN promises measures to increase the share of funding going to local organisations in the next round.
