Sida finalises overhaul of NGO funding regime, 35 multi-year agreements with Southern actors to be signed

News June 24, 2026 / By: Ann Danaiya Usher

The dust and the shock have started to settle after a major shake-up in Sida’s NGO funding system that began two years ago. The agency now plans to make good on its pledge to devote 8 per cent of its civil society budget to organisations in the Global South. By year end, the total number of grantees will have increased almost ten-fold.
