Three Nordic donors have stopped aid to government in Myanmar, Finland weighs its options

News February 22, 2021 / By: Bjørn H Amland

Three Nordics have terminated their development aid to state institutions in Myanmar after the military seized power and detained the de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi on February 1. Denmark halted its aid the following day. Sweden has frozen some support through the UN, while Norway has put on hold its broad direct cooperation with state actors in the country. Finland is still weighing its options.
