No result-based climate payments by Norway to tropical forest countries in 2020

For the first time in 12 years, the multi-billion-dollar Norwegian rainforest initiative made no payments for reduced emissions from deforestation in any of the tropical countries where it has bilateral agreements, an overview by Development Today shows. With the biggest programmes in Brazil and Guyana in deadlock, observers say the initiative has reached a crossroads.
