Norway to pay Indonesia NOK 530m for reduced forest carbon emissions

Norway has announced its first result-based payment to Indonesia for reducing deforestation, part of a NOK 6 billion climate forest deal signed a decade ago. Peatland fires, which make up about half of Indonesia’s greenhouse emissions, continue to be excluded from the overall carbon accounting.
