Local humanitarian actors still poorly funded. After 7 years, UN agencies and NGOs hold tight to donor funds

Direct funding to local NGOs has not increased despite a global pandemic, Black Lives Matter, and seven years of talk about localisation. The power structures in humanitarian aid remain unchanged, a four-year system review shows. Jan Egeland, Secretary General of Norwegian Refugee Council, and Anita Kattakuzhy, Policy Director at NEAR, call for donors to set clear demands for more funding of local actors.
