Aid level plunged to ten-year low in 2021 as Norway saw highest growth on record

News April 24, 2022 / By: Bjørn H Amland

The Norwegian petroleum-driven economy grew at the fastest rate on record last year, while aid dropped in real terms. The government has pledged to keep aid at 1 per cent of Gross National Income (GNI) but fell short by NOK 3 billion. With soaring energy revenues in the wake of the war in Ukraine, Norway’s economy continues to grow, and the aid level gap might well persist into 2022.
