UN agency works to transform agriculture as Ukraine war hits smallholder farmers in Africa

The UN’s agriculture agency IFAD says spiking fertilizer prices on top of record-high energy costs triggered by the war in Ukraine are hitting smallholder farmers hard. The agency urges donors not to lose sight of the longer-term goal of transforming agriculture systems to make them more climate friendly and less dependent on synthetic fertilizer.
