UN currency swap for Afghanistan edges close to launch

The UN and the World Bank are piecing together an unprecedented currency swap mechanism that aims to finance aid operations inside Afghanistan without violating US sanctions against the Taliban. UNOPS, the Copenhagen-based procurement outfit, will likely manage the facility.
