Donors ignore urgent pandemic funding appeal, covid response is ‘flying on fumes’

Donors have given only 5 per cent of the cash most urgently needed this year to finance covid tools for the world’s poorest countries. The ACT-Accelerator, a loose collaboration of global health agencies that manages the international pandemic response, has been trying for more than three months to raise funds. It is hampered by competition among its members, waning donor interest, and the overwhelming focus on vaccines.
