Humanitarian needs skyrocket as war, climate change and the pandemic drive crisis

COVID-19, political conflict and the climate crisis are fuelling a dramatic rise in humanitarian needs. According to the UN, 274 million people will need humanitarian aid and protection next year. “Ethiopia is the most alarming in terms of immediate emergency needs,” said UN humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths at the launch of the UN humanitarian outlook for 2022 in Geneva.
