Sida to carry out ‘media review’ of humanitarian applicants to rule out links to extremism

September 22, 2025 / By: Ann Danaiya Usher

25 humanitarian actors shortlisted by Sida for multi-year funding have been informed at the last minute that the agency will be carrying out a “media review” to ensure that they do not support violent extremism, Islamism, antisemitism or terrorism. The new requirement delays the selection process, which began a year ago and was supposed to be decided last week.
