High-level power play ahead of Gavi’s replenishment

News May 29, 2025 / By: Ann Danaiya Usher

At a time when aid budgets are being slashed across the board, the Vaccine Alliance Gavi - the financial powerhouse in global health - aims to raise USD 9 billion to expand its mission. Gavi’s co-founder Bill Gates has reached out to old friends in Oslo to bolster the alliance ahead of next month’s replenishment. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre says Norway will uphold its high level of support for Gavi, ignoring advice from his own experts.
