A pioneering Sida guarantee for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) aims to mobilise almost half a billion US dollars in new loans for projects to protect the Amazon rainforest. The guarantee will allow the triple A rated bank to lend more to seven countries stretching across the Amazon Basin. If successful, it could be a sweet deal that costs Sweden nothing, but what is the actual risk involved?
