Sida awaits government decision on frozen funds to Palestine

February 20, 2024 / By: Ann Danaiya Usher

Swedish development aid to Palestine has been frozen for more than four months, while the humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate. The aid agency Sida has completed its second review of Palestine aid, assigned by the Foreign Ministry. It points to control weaknesses for some recipients but presents no evidence of links to Hamas. The report cites other donors’ warnings about “excessively far-reaching” requirements for actors now working in Palestine.
