Norfund defied the perception of risk in Kenya and made consumer debt a win. Now Citi bank has joined in

Three years ago, Norfund made a cutting-edge investment to propel the sale of solar home systems on pay-as-you-go terms in Kenya. The investor provided millions of dollars in working capital to the retailer d.light, buying its accounts receivables, betting that Kenyan consumers would pay their debts. Norfund has expanded its investments and Citi bank has joined in.
