The power (and weakness) of numbers: What the MDGs left out

While simple, measurable development goals have helped to influence behavior, much of the nuance has been lost in the MDGs. Issues in the grey areas that fall outside the spotlight tend to be left out of the discussion, writes Alicia Ely Yamin, Lecturer at the Harvard School of Public Health.
