Sweden expands aid to Africa, funding of UN agencies at a standstill

More money for Africa and a huge capital injection for Swedfund are the main priorities in next year’s Swedish aid budget. Sweden keeps core funding of all major UN agencies unchanged. 

Swedish aid amounts to SEK 35.8 billion in 2012, an increase of almost 2 per cent. This reflects predicted growth in Sweden’s economy and aid will remain at 1 per cent of GNI.
