Beyond Svalbard

The seeds held in the Svalbard genebank lack the genetic diversity needed to secure food supplies as climate becomes more unpredictable. Crop wild relatives, the botanical progenitors and cousins of our domesticated crops, are the great, untapped resource that could be used for adaptation.
