A ‘Swedish NOREPS’ to help firms into post-disaster market

In spite of strong interest, Swedish businesses are not well placed to compete in the Haiti post-disaster market, a report commissioned by the Foreign Ministry concludes. Their strength is a “systems approach” with an emphasis on high quality, while UN agencies tend to procure in “bits and pieces” based on the lowest price.
To give Swedish companies a fighting chance, the report’s author Lars Klöfver proposes the creation of a preparedness network along the lines of NOREPS in Norway.
