Norway steps up support for Iraqi oil authorities

Norway and Iraq will soon sign an agreement on expansion of the controversial aid-financed Oil For Development Programme which aims to help Iraqis manage their oil sector. Norway will provide NOK 20 million over three years.

The Norwegian mainly state-owned oil company Statoil pulled out of the programme two years ago following a critical evaluation that pointed to potential conflicts of interest.
