FAO seeks central role for agriculture in climate

FAO has launched a programme to establish reliable statistics on the role of agriculture to greenhouse emissions and the potential for climate change mitigation. Finland is the first donor to provide cash.

The ultimate goal is to turn crop fields into carbon sinks and develop funding mechanisms that would benefit small farmers.
