Väyrynen wants closer Nordic cooperation

Finnish Minister for Trade and Development Paavo Väyrynen plans to launch proposals for closer Nordic cooperation in the development field. He says the Nordics take the lead in many international processes, but do not have proper discussions amongst themselves.

Finland’s lower aid level has put constraints on Finnish participation in Nordic initiatives over the past 15 years. Väyrynen points out that Finnish aid is growing, and on track to reach an aid level of 0.7 per cent of GNI by 2015.
