Auditor General wants scrutiny of state agencies’ role in aid

The Auditor General calls for the government to initiate an independent review of the role of Swedish state agencies in Swedish development cooperation.

The agencies are the preferred partners in capacity building programmes. But the watch dog fears their role contradicts the principle of untied aid and may lead to projects that recipients do not need.
