Scania avoids US police probe over Iraq kickbacks

The Swedish truck producer Scania CV AB has avoided a US criminal investigation for paying kickbacks to the former Saddam Hussein regime in Iraq in connection with the UN-sponsored Oil for Food Programme because the alleged crime took place too long ago, Development Today has learned.

Meanwhile, Swedish police are finalising investigations aimed at taking employees in both Scania and Volvo AB, another Swedish truck producer, to court for having paid kickbacks in Iraq.
