Limiting damages of oil development

Of the 61 applications received by Norad from non-governmental organisations in and outside of Norway, six have been awarded grants for 2016-2018 under the Oil for Development Programme. 

The funding aims to support organisations that work to prevent environmental degradation and corruption resulting from oil exploitation, according to Svein Bæra, head of Norad’s Civil Society Department.Of the 61 applications received by Norad from non-governmental organisations in and outside of Norway, six have been awarded grants for 2016-2018 under the Oil for Development Programme. 

Funds have been allocated as follows: Oxfam America NOK 7.4 million; WWF Norway NOK 7 million; Norwegian People’s Aid NOK 6 million; Natural Resource Governance Institute NOK 4.8 million; Norwegian Church Aid NOK 3.9 million; and Global Witness NOK 1.8 million.
