ICT development in Tanzania

Finland has been active in information and communications technology (ICT) in Tanzania since 2008. A first phase of support to ICT sector development, the TANZICT programme, to which Finland contributed EUR 5.8 million, comes to an end next year.

The Tanzanian government is currently preparing its ICT strategy for 2016 and beyond. Finland intends to continue to prioritise this sector. The plan is to provide EUR 8 million for the period October 2015 to the end of 2019.

The Finnish Foreign Ministry is looking for consultants to help identify and formulate a programme. Some possible areas of support include: continued support for policy development and implementation; capacity building; public-private collaboration and best practices in the private sector; and innovation support mechanisms.

The deadline for the submission of tenders is November 14, 2014.
