The Swedish aid agency Sida is extending its support for a second phase of a rural roads programme in Afghanistan, the Rural Access Improvement Project. SEK 180 million has been allocated in total, and Sida is looking for a consultant to oversee the work.

Soft new approach to forestry in Tanzania

A planned four-year engagement in the Tanzanian forestry sector is being revised in the light of the new Finnish development policy, which puts more emphasis on rights of the poor.

Tsate in Mozambique

The Mozambican utilily EDM has applied for funds from the Swedish Embassy in Maputo towards the cost of a feasibility study for the Tsate hydropower project in the Revue River basin.

Finnish evaluation

The Finnish business aid scheme Finnpartnership, which is managed by Finnfund, is to be evaluated in the light of the new aid policy. The possibility of merging with Finnfund will be explored.
