Developing agricultural markets in Liberia
From January 2012, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) plans to provide support to a programme for the development of agricultural markets and value chains in Liberia with a preliminary maximum amount of SEK 125 million.
The overall goal of the programme is pro-poor growth. Its objectives include substantially increased income and employment opportunities for a large number of poor women, men and youth, created through market and value chain development in agriculture.
The expected outputs are systemic change in market systems relevant for the smallholder farmers and related micro and small enterprises in terms ofa improved market functions, improved performance of support services and improved business environment. The programme is intended to be based on the Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) approach.
Two procurements for consultancy services are envisioned: a monitoring consultant who will be involved in the design phase of the programme; and a programme facilitator who will deal with detailed design and implementation of the programme.
