Sweden, Finland seek US-European détente on development

Swedish Development Minister Gunilla Carlsson has quickly established networks in the new US administration, in preparation for Sweden’s EU Presidency next summer.

A door opener has been Carlsson’s position as Chair of a task force which last week presented a report in Washington DC for closer cooperation between the United States and Europe within the field of development.

Meanwhile, Finnish Minister for Trade and Development Paavo Värynen has received unanimous EU support for an initiative on an EU-US partnership on sustainable development.
