The Danish investment funds, the Industrialization Fund for Developing Countries (IFU) and the Investment Fund for Central and Eastern Europe (IØ), have been through turbulent times, shouldering much criticism and restructuring in recent years.
Norconsult is about to sign a Norad-financed contract worth some NOK 9 million with the Laotian utility Electricité du Laos (EdL) for advisory services and supervision during the construction of the 76-megawatt Xeset 2 hydropower project. The contract builds on experience gained from the Xeset 1 project and a 1999 feasibility study.
More time is needed to find a solution to the question of how to wind up the Nordic Development Fund (NDF), a new report commissioned by the NDF Board concludes. Almost 40 per cent of the staff has left NDF since the Nordic development ministers decided to close down the fund.
