The Norwegian guarantee institute GIEK has asked for its frame for guarantees to the poorest developing countries to be doubled to NOK 3 billion. Guarantee applications are piling up without being processed because GIEK reached the ceiling for such guarantees a long time ago. The former government was unable to solve the problem. Now GIEK is trying again with the new Red Green government.
