GIEK requests extension of guarantee frame to NOK 3 billion

The Norwegian guarantee institute GIEK has asked for its frame for guarantees to the poorest developing countries to be doubled to NOK 3 billion. Guarantee applications are piling up without being processed because GIEK reached the ceiling for such guarantees a long time ago. The former government was unable to solve the problem. Now GIEK is trying again with the new Red Green government.

Road saga drags on. Sida pursues legal investigation of NCC

Legal questions surrounding a Swedish aid-financed road project in Nicaragua that ended up costing about SEK 100 million more than budgeted remain unresolved. Sida is pursuing legal investigations of two Swedish firms, NCC and Hifab/WSP.

Sida holds back on further Caritas funding

Sida is demanding repayment of SEK 500,000 from Caritas Sweden because some of the funds for the organisation’s humanitarian aid in Iraq have been handled incorrectly.
