Denmark plans major support to Nile Basin

The Danida Board has approved DKK 60 million in support for the Nile Basin Initiative over a period from 2004 to 2008. NBI was launched in 2001 and represents a regional effort by the ten riparian countries - among the poorest, most debt and conflict-ridden in the world - to enhance cooperation in the use of the Nile’s resources. NBI’s Secretariat is in Entebbe, Uganda.
